The A20 Baltic Sea motorway provides fast and easy access to Vorpommern. Take the A11 and A20 motorways to get to Vorpommern from Berlin and Stettin, the A19 and A20 motorways from southern and western departure points.

  • From Berlin: approx. 3 hours (A11 to Prenzlau, A20 and B96 Insel Rügen
  • From Hamburg: approx. 3 hours (A1 direction Lübeck, A20 and B96 Insel Rügen)

By train

From Berlin: approx. 3 1/2 hours to Binz/Rügen, approx. 4 hours with the regional train.

From Munich: there is a direct connection that takes you to Greifswald in 8 hours. The City Night Line takes you overnight from Zurich directly to Binz/Rügen via Berlin.

The Usedomer Bäderbahn connects the island of Usedom, the Hanseatic cities Greifswald and Stralsund as well as the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula.

By air

Flights arrive regularly at Rostock-Laage airport from Cologne/Bonn, Munich and Stuttgart and from Frankfurt and Zurich again as of March 2012. The region is accessible from many major European cities. The RügenShuttle, a comfortable shuttle bus, gets you quickly and conveniently to your travel destination on the island of Rügen.

Flights operated by the airlines OLT and Air Berlin arrive regularly at Heringsdorf airport on Usedom from Vienna, Zurich, Basel, Bern, Cracow, Warsaw, Munich, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Dortmund and Bremen.

By bicycle

Cycling is a great way to spend your vacation in Vorpommern. You can bike along the Baltic Sea coast or across the region through the lake district to Rügen, or take bike tours on long-distance trails as well as day tours on circuits.
